June 23 Weekly Update

CSA
Delivery/pick-up will resume starting Thursday June 28 for members who elected to suspend their share due to our recent crop loss.  The skipped weeks will be made up at the end of the season.  Thanks so much for your patience and understanding!!

Re-planting
We are in the third week of recovery after June 8th’s severe weather.  About 80% of the crop was lost.  The field has been disked and bedded and re-planting is about half done.  Some kale, a few beets, leeks, and some potatoes are coming back.  We expect to have kale available in about a week.

At Market
We will continue to attend Cherry Creek on Wednesday and Saturday and Pearl Street on Sunday.  Fort Collins, Denver Urban and Greeley markets will remain canceled for at least a couple more weeks.  LFF heirloom dry beans and garlic will be available along with a variety of local produce from other nearby farms.  While we normally sell only LFF grown produce, we have found it necessary to supplement our availability after such a large loss.  We are happy to have the chance to support other local growers (and are especially looking forward to the bing cherries we will have available from the western slope).  Hope to see you this weekend!

Extra Tomato Plants
We have overstock of a few tomato varieties in need of a good home.  Please contact us if you or anyone you know could use some more tomato plants.

Free-range Eggs
Remember those adorable spring chicks?  The oldest few are just starting to lay, and the rest should soon follow.  Place your order now to ensure availability of LFF’s delicious, nutritious (and beautiful) rainbow eggs.  Currently, we are getting just enough eggs from last year’s chickens to supply our CSA members, so we are excited to have a larger supply only a few weeks out (as long as we can keep the foxes, dogs, owls out!)
